Dr Shwetha Murthy

Specialist General Practitioner

Meet Dr Shwetha at a Glance

Dr Shwetha is a Specialist General Practitioner with extensive experience across multiple fields of medicine and a particular interest in adult ADHD and mental health. Many of the people she sees are managing busy households, caring for children or relatives, and noticing patterns of attention, organisation or emotional regulation that seem to run through the family. She is especially interested in supporting women who are starting to wonder how their own history, their children’s experiences and ADHD might be connected.

In consultations, Shwetha brings a calm, organised style and a strong focus on context: childhood experiences, school reports, family roles, cultural background and current life demands. She takes time to map out how symptoms have shown up over time, how they interact with mood, sleep and physical health, and what this means for day‑to‑day life at home and at work. Her goal is to provide a structured, clinically sound assessment and to help patients understand their options in clear, practical language.

Her areas of interest include:

  • Adult ADHD in women who are also parents or carers

  • How ADHD traits and executive functioning challenges can affect family routines and relationships

  • Adult ADHD in men across a wide range of roles, from blue‑collar to white‑collar work

Shwetha obtained her medical degree in India and gained clinical experience in the United Kingdom before relocating to Australia in 2007. She has worked in tertiary and regional hospitals across New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland, including roles in General Medicine, Nephrology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology, and has completed the Sydney Child Health Program through the University of Sydney. This breadth of experience underpins her careful, whole‑person approach to ADHD assessment and ongoing management.

Dr Shwetha welcomes adults who are curious about how ADHD might be affecting not just themselves but their family life, and who are looking for a thoughtful assessment and a coordinated plan that takes their wider responsibilities into account.
