Meet Andri at a Glance

Dr Kay Walls is a specialist general practitioner who brings warmth, curiosity, and a deeply holistic lens to everything she does. With a background spanning mental health and women’s health, she has developed a particular focus on ADHD in adult women, a group she feels has historically been under-recognised and underserved.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney, followed by general practice training through James Cook University, where she attained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has also undertaken additional training in Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS), allowing her to integrate psychological support into her care.

For Dr Kay, an ADHD assessment is never just a checklist. She is interested in the whole person, including their history, relationships, long-standing patterns, and the strengths that often sit alongside the challenges. She creates space for patients to tell their story fully, and many describe her consultations as the first time they have felt genuinely listened to.

Her areas of interest include:

  • Supporting mothers and high-functioning women navigating a new ADHD diagnosis

  • Culturally sensitive and person-centred care

  • Emotional regulation, anxiety and depression particularly in the postnatal period

  • Holistic, personalised care planning.

Dr Kay’s approach is warm, thorough, and deeply patient-centred. She takes time to understand the full picture, including a patient’s history, day-to-day challenges, strengths, and goals, before developing a care plan that is practical and tailored to their life. She works closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, and allied health providers to ensure coordinated, comprehensive support.

She welcomes patients who are looking for a practitioner who will take their concerns seriously, ask thoughtful questions, and walk alongside them towards greater clarity, confidence, and wellbeing.

What is the most rewarding part of working with children and adolescents in therapy?

The most rewarding part of working with children and adolescents is witnessing their uniqueness, resilience, and dedication to reaching their full potential, while also appreciating their incredible sense of humour. I believe that every individual experiences life in their own unique way, and my goal is to understand their perspective, using evidence based psychological interventions and my own life experiences to support them in achieving their therapy goals.

How do you help children and adolescents feel comfortable opening up during sessions?

I strive to make the therapeutic journey safe, comfortable, and enjoyable by incorporating play, humour, and authenticity. Drawing from evidence based interventions, as well as skills I’ve learned from drama and improv classes, I create a space where children feel free to be themselves. By listening closely and engaging with what excites them, I ensure that sessions feel natural, interactive, and meaningful, always with a spark of humour too!
