Why Consider A
Cognitive (Giftedness, High IQ) Assessment

  • Clarity and Insight: Giftedness assessments provide a clear, accurate understanding of you or your child’s unique intellectual strengths and high IQ potential. Discovering these cognitive gifts can clarify learning styles, identify areas of excellence, and help unlock greater academic success.

  • Access to Advanced Opportunities: A formal giftedness assessment can qualify you or your child for gifted and talented programs, specialised educational adjustments, enrichment opportunities, and additional academic supports tailored to advanced learning needs.

  • Trusted, Evidence-Based Tools: We use validated, widely recognised cognitive assessment tools (such as the WISC-V or WAIS-IV) to deliver comprehensive, precise evaluations, ensuring results accurately reflect true intellectual abilities and potential.

  • Clarity and Understanding: Cognitive assessments are commonly used to assess for high IQ or intellectual ability (giftedness), intellectual delay, or specific learning challenges such as difficulties with memory, attention, or problem-solving.

  • Access to Supports and Opportunities: A formal Cognitive Assessment can help qualify you or your child for academic supports, educational adjustments, gifted and talented programs, or additional services if needed.

  • Evidence-Based Tools: We use validated, widely recognised cognitive assessment instruments (such as the WISC-V or WAIS-IV) to ensure our evaluations are accurate, comprehensive, and reflective of each individual’s true abilities.

Our
Step-by-Step Process

Not all ADHD Assessments are Performed Equally.

Our Detailed Step by Step Process.

Total cost for all steps: $1950

You may choose to have any of the following steps online, in-person (Graceville), or both

Initial Intake Session (1–1.5 hours)

We begin with an intake session to explore your background, current concerns, and any cognitive strengths or challenges you’ve noticed. If it appears unlikely that a formal cognitive diagnosis or classification is needed, Heather will explain this at the outset, allowing you to make an informed decision about whether to proceed.

Assessment Session (2 hours)

If proceeding, Heather will conduct a detailed two-hour cognitive assessment using standardised tools designed to measure different areas of intelligence, such as verbal reasoning, visual-spatial skills, working memory, processing speed, and problem-solving abilities.

Questionnaires for Report

Questionnaires may also be completed by you and/or key people in your or your child’s life (such as family members, teachers, or tutors) to provide additional perspectives. Heather will then dedicate approximately 1.5 hours to reviewing the information and preparing a detailed report.

Feedback Session (1 hour)

Once the report is ready, we’ll schedule a feedback session to discuss the findings, answer any questions, and outline clear recommendations and next steps.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. The intake session helps determine whether a full cognitive assessment is likely to be beneficial. If Heather feels that a formal assessment isn’t necessary, she will explain this during the session so you can make an informed decision about proceeding.

  • A Cognitive Assessment can help clarify:

    • Intellectual strengths across different domains (e.g., verbal, visual-spatial, memory, processing speed)

    •  Intellectual giftedness or high potential

    • Intellectual disabilities or significant cognitive delays

    • Specific cognitive strengths and challenges that may impact learning or day-to-day functioning

  • We use gold-standard assessments such as:

    • WISC-V (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fifth Edition) for children

    • WAIS-IV (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition) for adults

    • Ravens-2 (Ravens Progressive Matrices – Second Edition)

    • CTONI-2 (Comprehensive Test of Nonverbal Intelligence – Second Edition)

    • WPPSI-IV (Weschler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence)

    • Supplementary tools to assess specific areas like memory, processing speed, or executive functioning if needed.

  • We usually book your feedback appointment about three weeks after your final assessment session. This allows time for any additional forms to be returned and for Heather to complete a thorough report.

If you require a faster turnaround, please let us know. In urgent cases, and if all forms are returned promptly, the process can sometimes be finalised within one to two weeks, or within 48 hours of receiving all required documentation.

  • Yes. We offer Cognitive Assessments for children aged five and above, as well as adults of all ages. Each assessment is carefully tailored to the individual’s age, needs, and life context.

  • After your assessment, you will receive a detailed report and have a feedback session with Heather to discuss the results and next steps.

Depending on the findings, your report will include:

    • A summary of cognitive strengths and challenges

    • Formal diagnoses or classifications (if applicable)

    • Practical recommendations for home, school, university, or workplace supports

    • Strategies to build on strengths and address any barriers

Heather will provide tailored advice based on your or your child’s individual profile.

  • We can assist with any documentation needed to access educational or workplace supports.

    Our reports include:

    • An official cognitive assessment report

    • An assessment of functional impact (if relevant)

    • Specific support recommendations

You can then share the report with your school, university, or employer as part of their adjustment processes. We are happy to assist with any necessary forms or letters.
