Meet Matthew

Registered Psychologist

Mens Mental Health

Hello, I'm Matthew! I am a Registered Psychologist specialising in therapy for adolescents (13+ years) and adults, with a strong focus on Men’s Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression and Neurodiversity (ASD & ADHD)

My therapeutic approach is strengths-based and solution-focused, drawing on evidence-based techniques tailored to each client’s unique needs. These include:

• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

• Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

• Motivational Interviewing

I strive to create a warm, supportive, and collaborative space where clients feel understood, valued, and empowered to create meaningful change. My goal is to help individuals build the skills and confidence needed to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and resilience.

Our focus is not on “fixing” who you are, but on helping you rediscover your inner strengths and build a balanced, fulfilling life.

Recognising the Signs

You might be the reliable one—the friend, the father, the partner, the problem solver. Yet, lately, you may have noticed:

Tightening Chest

Routine meetings or minor setbacks might suddenly feel like insurmountable challenges.

Frayed Patience

Moments of frustration with loved ones can leave you feeling regretful and isolated.

Restless Nights

Instead of restorative sleep, you find yourself staring into darkness, lost in thought.

Diminished Joy

Activities that once recharged you -- now seem less fulfilling.

These feelings aren’t a sign of weakness—they’re your mind’s way of telling you it needs care, just like your body does.

Understanding Men's Mental Health

Society often teaches men to keep emotions locked away, to “man up” and push on. But the weight of unspoken expectations, work stress, or family responsibilities can affect anyone deeply. At Nurtured Thoughts Psychology, we believe addressing mental health is an act of strength, not defeat.

Our Compassionate, Results-Focused Therapies include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop better coping strategies

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Reconnect with your values and take meaningful action

Mindfulness & Stress Management - Techniques to help you regulate emotions and regain calm.

  • Solution-Focused Techniques: Goal-driven strategies to address immediate challenges

  • Trauma-Informed Care - A safe, structured space to process past experiences and move forward

Why This Matters

  • Real Support Without Judgment: Share openly in a space that values honesty and empathy.

  • Rediscover Your Strengths: Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you; it’s about helping you reconnect with who you already are.

  • Enhance Relationships: Learn tools to communicate more openly and deepen the bonds that matter most to you.

  • Build Daily Resilience: Move beyond just “coping” and start thriving.
